Cameroonian side Stade Renard of Melong has been beaten by 2 goals to nil in a delayed CAF Confederation Cup fixture on Monday in Kinshasa.
The Melong boys in their debut CAF Club Competition held the historic Congolese side to a zero score in a first half they could have gotten a goal if not for the poor finishing of Tamo Giresse Tinwo who missed a one-on-one chance in the half.
In the second segment of the game,a defensive solid Stade Renard side organized by coach Bertin Ebwelle resisted multiple attempts from Motema Pembe to break the defensive mechanism in place but had multiple incursions from the right flank.
Stade Renard’s resistance will be broken at the 68th Minutes of play when 25 year old forward Asumani Rachidi sent DC Motema Pembe in front after finding himself on a one-on-one situation with Goalkeeper Emmanuel Yokam.
The goal gave the home crowd at the Stade de Martyrs a greater motivation to rally behind their team and made the mood better on the pitch as the players responded to the greater noise level generated by their team.
At the 86th Minutes Ivorian forward Junior Kone settled the matter at least in the first leg after his shot from just outside the box took a wicked deflection off center back Yemog Michel.
The score will remain 2 nil until the 93rd minute despite the 2 late chances from corners for Stade Renard that was well defended.
