The Total CAF Confederations Cup group stages entered it’s match day 2 today with some interesting results recorded.
In group A, two times CAF Champions League winner, Enyimba FC fell 2-1 in South Africa to Orlando Pirates. The giant of Nigeria who thought they’d salvaged a point in Nelson Mandela’s country went to sleep with a minute left to play and got punished by Mbasa.
It was all drama in Lybia as both Al Ahli and ES Setif finished the game with 10-men, but it was the former who had the last laugh thanks to Alwadawi’s early goal in the 3rd minute.
With the win for Ah Ahli, they move third on the log, same points as second place Enyimba
Cameroon’s Coton Sports recorded their first win of the campaign in style beating RSB Berkane 2-0. The Cameroonian had been tipped to struggle against the Northern Africans but two goals in the second half did not only give them the win but will also boost their morale going into other fixtures.
In the other group B fixture, Napsa Stars played a 2-2 draw against JS Kabylie
A highly contested group B saw Diaraf and CS Sfaxien played a 1-1 draw while Salitas beat Etoile du Sahel by a lone goal. The result leaves the group highly competitive and giving all the teams everything to fight for going into the next match day.
The Northern African duo of Pyramids and Raja Casablanca are dominant in group D with two wins in two games for them. Pyramids of Egypt defeated Namungo of Tanzania at the backyard 2-0 while Raja of Morocco also did beat Zambia’s Nkana FC 2-0 in front of their fans.
Pyramids leads the group ahead of Raja with a superior goal difference with both sides set to clash in the match day 3 fixture.
