Cameroon’s Simon Ommosola was at the goal post for his club AS Vita Club had a 4-1 thumping of Al Merrikh in Group A of the CAF Champions League.
Simon Omossola has been a regular feature for Florent Ibenge’s side this season as they chase another CAF Champions League medal after winning it in 1973.
A brace from and a goal each from Djuma Shabani and Amede Masasi gave all three points to AS Vita Club.
Elsamani Saadeldin scored the opener for Al Merrikh at the 8mins. That was cancelled out by Obed Mayamba who got AS Vita’s equalizer at the 28mins.
AS Vita Club went 2-0 through Djuma Shabani who scored a penalty at the 37mins. Amede Masasi 68mins then made it 3-0.
Obed Mayamba’s 83mins goal made sure the victory goes to the Black Dolphins.
Simon Omossola signed a two-year contract with the Congolese club on September 20, 2020. Before leaving for the “Black Dolphins” Omossola spent four years with Coton Sport of Garoua.
Omossola has played four times for AS Vita Club in the ongoing CAF Champions League, conceding five goals.
AS Vita Club is one of the most successful clubs in Congo. The club is the holder of multiple titles in the Congolese Championship (some 14 Congolese titles) and some 9 titles at the National Cup.
This is the second game for AS Vita Club with the club beaten on matchday one by Simba SC 1-0. The team will next be in action for round three on March 15 against Al Ahly.
