Cameroon’s representative in the 2021-2022 CAF Confederation Cup -Cotonsport have advanced to the group stages of the competition for the second season running.
The Cotonites picked a 2-0 win in the second-leg third round preliminary game this Sunday at the Douala Reunification Stadium.
Souleymanou Aboubakar decided to stick with the eleven that played goalless FC last Sunday, but FC Nouadhibou on the other hand saw goalkeeper come in as their only alteration.
The unchanged starting XI from the Cotonites were dominated the early exchanges, missing a catalog of chances.
But 21 minutes into the game, Marou Souaibou finished off a fine cross by Tombi Alemi who benefited from a pass from Mamadou Abbo.
FC Nouadhibou couldn’t get anywhere close to the Cotonsport before the goal but after conceding they tried improved on their attacking efforts, moving into the penalty area but their shot on was blocked at the expense of the first corner for the visitors in the 25th minute.
The Cotonites will soon make it 2-0 in the 27 minutes when Tombi Alemi won a penalty converted by Marou Souaibou to complete his brace.
Though both sides had chances to add score another goal but it wasn’t to be till the break.
Cotonsport took the 2-0 advantage to the break having dominated possession in the opening 45 minutes.

FC Nouadhibou had the first chance of the half in the 52 minute when forward Abdou galloped into the Cotonsport box but his shot on was comfortably gathered by goalkeeper Allabatnan Gadin.
The game’s chances dried off for the next 15 minutes while Cotonsport dominated possession.
FC Nouadhibou made a number of changes in person just like Coton who produced the loudest shout of the night when Kamilou Daouda came on for Tombi Alemi eight minutes from time.
The game 2-0 in favour the record Cameroon champions who advanced to the group stages of the competition alongside 15 other clubs.
The brace is Marou takes his season tally to four in three games in the competition.
