Kwara United of Nigeria on Sunday qualified for the next round of the 2022/2023 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup after playing out a 0-0 draw with AS Douanes of Niger Republic.
The build-up to the game was married by fetish drama at the entrance of the stadium for Kwara United according to a report from the Nigerian side media team.
AS Douanes according to the report hired herbalists to pour blood on Kwara United players, as they are about to enter the Main Bowl.
The two herbalists, one with a keg full of blood and the other with a goat, performed the stupid act when the players are coming down from the bus.
At the time of performing the act, no single policeman was around.
On the field of play, Kwara United goalkeeper, Adewale Adeyinka made some saves which helped the team to record the desired result.
He stood firm to deny Kwame from close range in the 28th minute.
The reliable goalkeeper in the 31st minute stretched very well to foil Sadou Moustapha’s header.
The former Gombe United shot-stopper was the stand-out performer of the game.
Barnabas Daniel in the 80th minute finds space in the danger zone and fails to convert his chance for Kwara United.
Kwara United held on to the draw to progress to the next round of the 2022/2023 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.
The team will face a daunting task against holders, Berkane of Morocco in the next round.
