Nigeria’s sole representative at the 2020/2021 CAF Confederations Cup, Enyimba International Football Club of Aba defeated ES Setif of Algeria 2-1 in their third Group A encounter at the Enyimba International Stadium (Aba) on Sunday.
The People Elephant had to come from behind and missed a penalty before earning their second win in the group stage.
Monsef Bakrar scored the opening goal for ES Setif in the 13th minute.
Four minutes later, Enyimba had the opportunity to level scores from the penalty spot, but Austin Oladapo missed the penalty.
Austin Oladapo redeemed himself when he equalised for Enyimba in the 40th minute off Ojo Ekundayo Solomon’s assist.
Tosin Omoyele scored the winning goal for Enyimba in the 60th minute after excellent work from Super Eagles forward Anayo Iwuala.
Enyimba seat at the top of Group A with six points from three games, two points ahead of South Africa’s Orlando Pirates ahead of the latter’s third game against Al-Ahly Benghazi later on Sunday.
The two-time African Champions will travel to play ES Setif in Algeria on April 11, 2021, in their next group game.
