FC Barcelona Femeni and Super Falcons of Nigeria forward, Asisat Oshoala has emerged as the winner of the 2022 CAF Player of the year for women.
The 2021/2022 top goal scorer in the Spanish Primera Iberdrola cinched the prize in Morocco during the award ceremony on Thursday ahead of Ajara Nchout Njoya (Cameroon) and Grace Chanda (Zambia).
She thus broke and surpassed her record and that of Perpetual Nkwocha’s four (4) titles to become the player with the highest number of CAF Women’s Player of the year awards after her fifth title.
Despite an injury-plagued season with FC Barcelona Femeni, Asisat Oshoala went on to win the top goal scorer prize with 20 goals alongside her new teammate, Geyse who recently joined FC Barcelona Femeni from Madrid CFF.
In the other women’s football award categories, Evelyn Badu of Ghana won the InterClub Player of the year award.
Winners of the maiden TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies of South Africa clinched the Club of the Year Award.
South Africa coach, Desiree Ellis retained the Coach of the Year Award for women’s category.
