The head coach of the Intermediate National selection of Burkina Faso Seydou Krol has stated that the performance of teams in the upcoming African Nations Championship including his side will be massively determined by some key factors.
Speaking during the traditional pre-match conference on Friday ahead of Saturday’s group A game against Mali, coach Seydou made a key revelation.
“We have used multiple ways to prepare for the competition. The resumption of our national championship which is half way in, training camps and friendly matches has given us the feel we are prepared,” Coast Seydou stated.
Burkina Faso are amongst a few countries that have offered their players a run of games under their belt since they resumed the national championship towards the end of last year and the coach is keen on building on that though he is cautions that is not enough.
“Yes, my players will benefit from playing a number of games in the local championship. It is important, but not the only aspect in preparations. We have played a number of international friendly games to prepare for this competition. This is also very important and could be a telling factor” the gaffer stated.
The local Stallions of Burkina are in group A of the tournament alongside Mali, Zimbabwe and host Cameroon.
Burkina Faso open their competition on Saturday in the second fixture of the 2020 African Nations Championship in Yaoundé when they take on Mali barely hours after the tournament opener pitting Cameroon against Zimbabwe.
Quizzed on what has changed since his side first faced Cameroon during the 2018 African Nations Championship in Morocco, Coach Krol as he is fondly called reminded the media that lots has changed with the team including the playing and technical staff thus making it a new.
