Buea United were humiliated with a 5-1 defeat by newly created Istanbul Football Academy, in their first preseason friendly at the Buea Police Field.
Buea United created the first chances of the game, when Emerand Ndive Motutu threaded a fine pass to Binlo Lartay Franklin but his final touch let him down. Emerand again played a fine pass to Brian Munya but his effort was well gathered by goalkeeper Sako Emmanuel of Istanbul FA.
Coach Ebenezer Ache’s team took a two-goals advantage into the break, first from an own goal from Ayuk Valentine.
Valentine fumbled Betrand Ngoh’s cross into his own net. Ngoh pounced on a lose pass from Tabi Jr to his goalkeeper Gwei Jeff before crossing for the goal.
They doubled their lead through Lima Ronald. A poor kick from Ayuk Valentine fell to Istanbul FA midfielder Ako Baiyee who played a perfect pass to Ngoh Betrand, who crossed into the box. His out going cross was headed back into the box bravely by captain Patrick Nguidjel to the head of the on-rushing Lima Ronald who made it 2-0 with a fine header.
Mofa Bosten almost halved their deficit with a fine free-kick which was parried over the post by goalkeeper Sako for Istanbul FA.
Both teams returned for the second half with almost completely changed teams.
Only the two first half substitutes Leonel Oben and Mbua Ngembo returned for Buea United while Collins Azentem was the only player to return for Istanbul FA.
The second half began just like the first, Buea United began on the front foot. Their early pressure paid off five minutes into the second half.
Nomen’s corner was deflected by Leonel Oben and Mbua Ngembo headed home from close range.
But Istanbul FA regained their two goal lead when a long defensive clearance from Lyonga Molombe fell to Clovis Ngalame whose left footed shot gave a full stretched goalkeeper Milton Eyole no chance.
The hugely experienced Academy by name with players like former Kumbo Strikers forward Takang Frankline got a fourth goal from a master class free-kick from the highly experienced Elvis Nangeri. Second half captain Fube Dirand for Buea United bundled down Clovis Ngalame at the edge of the box and Nageri stepped up and made it 4-1.
Terence Fobella had a glorious one-on-one chance to make it 5-1 but goalkeeper Milton Eyole made sure for coach Agbor Emmanuel’s team.
The fifth goal finally came after a good exchange of passes between Nangeri and Thiery Ebilitu. Ebilitu played a through ball to Clovis who scored his second of the game to make 5-1.
The take home message for President Valery Kadji’s team will be that they should try to match their off the field ambitions with their on the field performances.
