Brentford City made sure of a 3-2 home win despite Middlesbrough’s brave fight at Griffin Park.

The visitors leveled the scores twice after Brentford took the lead, but the home side had to dig deep to make sure of all three points.

Julien Jeanvier opened the scoring for Thomas Frank’s team at the 24th minute. They held on to the lead till the end of the first half.

Borough replied 13 minutes into the second half through Lewis Wing who was beautifully set up by Ashley Fletcher.

It took just two minutes for in-form potential Indomitable Lion Bryan Mbeumo to restore the home side’s advantage.

It was the 20-year-old former Troyes forward’s 12th league goal in 29 appearances this season for Brentford in the English second tier.

Mbeumo has hit the ground running for the promotion hopefuls as he has now contributed in 17 goals (12 goals and 5 assists) in 29 league games for them in his first season in England.

Ashley Fletcher made sure the home side’s lead lasted for only three minutes as he leveled the scoring again for Jonathan Woodgate’s charges.

But Brentford had the final word, thanks to their in-form forward Ollie Watkins at the 87th minute.

Brentford are now fifth on the log after 31 games, three points less than league leaders West Bromwich Albion who have played a game less.

That defeat leaves Borough on the 18th spot with 36 points in 31 games.

In match-day 32, on Tuesday February 11th, Borough travels to Wigan while Brentford welcomes Leeds United.
