Fans of Belgium Jupiler Pro side KV Ostende have taken to social media to manifest their desire to see their erstwhile captain Sébastien Siani back at the club, kick442.com can report.
The 33-year-old Cameroonian spent five memorable years at Ostende, between February 2013 and January 2018. He wrote an unforgettable chapter in the club’s history and played arguably his best football at the club which he went on to captain.
Since his departure from the club, Siani has represented rivals, Royal Antwerp plus UAE sides ; Al-Jezira and Ajman Club.
In January this year, the former RSC Anderlecht man left the UAE and returned to Belgium. He has since become a regular at the Versluys Arena.
He has been seen training at the club center, sometimes joins in training. He recently joined Franck Berrier in a fundraising campaign to safe the club.
This Monday, fans have multiply their calls for the club’s new management to bring on board and give a contract to the man many refer to as captain.
The club’s die-hards see the 2017 AFCON winner as the missing part of the Ostende jigsaw and ‘messiah’ to overturn the club’s consistent inconsistent result.
Ostende ended the last Jupiler pro campaign on the last-but-one spot.
Pundits say besides the club’s problems off the pitch, the current squad lacks experience on the pitch too.
Siani has the kind of experience a club can rely on. He has represented nine clubs in a 15-year career which really got underway in Belgium.
Siani scored 25 goals in 185 appearances in his five-year stint at KV Ostende.
A return to the club will see him reunite with his compatriot Fabrice Ondoa, who has been at the club in the last two seasons.
