Foncha Street’s inform forward, Brilliant Awahmukala emerged as the hero in Sunday’s Pool C clash pitting Etoile Filante of Garoua.
2 penalties in the 7th and 55th minutes plus an exquisite finish in the 41st minutes gave Foncha Street FC all 3 points.
Brilliant was substituted by the coach Frankline Anumewa in the 62nd minute but in just over an hour he had won the game for the boys from the legendary northwest street.
His 3 goals made him the second player in the competition to score thrice after Ngaoundere FC forward Hamadama Oumarou did same on Saturday.
It is the second this season that the forward has scored thrice in a game, earlier in the season, he scored 4 goals in a Northwest League game against Ebaidinho FC.
The 3 goals this Sunday takes his season tally to 10 goals this term.
“I am happy I scored thrice on my debut in this competition but it’s more important that we won and we stay for the next game” Brilliant told kick442.com after the game.
The win puts Foncha top of pool C, with 3 points.
Foncha Street FC will be exempted on match day two, and will only be in action on Saturday, when they take on Mercure SA of Bafia.
