Bayern Munich defender on loan at FC Koln will stay at the RheinEnergieSTADION for the rest of the season, despite a number of clubs’ interest in taking the young defender who left Bayern on a three seasons loan.
The 19-year-old has found first team opportunities limited under new manager Steffen Baumgart this season and has not played Bundesliga game since joining Koln despite his huge output in six games with the reserves.
Despite the lack of first team opportunities, it is thought that Mbi would rather stay with the Billy Goats, rather than play for another team for next season.
Koln officials are keen on keeping the player for greater opportunities from next season.
Bright Akwo Arrey-Mbi, son of a UK-based former footballer, now Lawyer (Bright Arrey-Mbi Snr) is following the steps of his father who was one of the most popular of his generation at Ajax of Kumba in the 80s with the same physical built.
At 18, the boy whose parents hail from Southwest-Cameroon is already robbing shoulders with some of the best in the business.
Arrey-Mbi holds a German passport but remains eligible to represent Cameroon through his parents.
Though he is yet to make his senior appearance for Bayern he has been given a new contract till 2025 just before his departure.
