Cameroon teenage sensation, Brenda Tabe Ebika has craved to represent the Indomitable Lionesses and propel the team to greatness after posting up impressive figures for Awa filles FC.
The 16-year-old charismatic forward has revealed she is looking forward to emerging amongst the greatest female footballers on the continent. She is also bent on creating an impact with a broader audience.
“I hope to play with the senior national team, and I want to become a professional player out of the country and out of Africa” Brenda told state media CRTV in an interview.
Born in December 2003, the upcoming female talent rose to stardom in 2018 after being detected from Lekie FC Obala by former U-17 lionesses manager Minkreo Birwe. She was top scorer of the Centre Regional League with an impressive 27 goals in just 13 matches. Interestingly, twelve (12) of these goals were scored in a single game.
The youngster has netted 20 goals in 16 competitive games for club and country this season. Brenda found the net thrice in a 10-0 aggregate win against São Tomé and Principe, during the return leg preliminary qualifiers for the U-17 Women’s World Cup. The native from South West-Cameroon, emerged second top scorer in Cameroon women’s league with 17 goals in 13 league appearances.

Despite lighting up the Women’s top tier league with heroic displays in just her first spell, the U-17 Lionesses forward says she received support from her mother although her father was unconvinced at the beginning.
“My mother was a footballer. I started playing football at the local level. I was eight years old. My Mother encouraged me to play football. She took charge to buy my boots, jerseys, and socks.”
Like many other Cameroonian and African players whom she draws inspiration from, the brilliant striker can easily combine technical quality, and brute strength to unlock opposition defences.
“Ajara [Nchout] is technical. She also has scoring abilities. For Aboudi Onguene, I love her insight. Alexandre Takounda, I admire her physical ability,” Brenda said.
Brenda is gradually hitting pick form which is great news for her club and country. Her pace, vision and instincts in front of goal makes her every defenders nightmare. Even with the Coronavirus pandemic, she has resorted to use home space and some personal equipment to keep fit.
No list of uprising female footballers in Cameroon can be complete without mentioning Brenda Tabe, who is aiming for a place in the sun.
