With Many international games being played without spectators, kick off between Sierra Leone and Benin was suddenly called off few minutes to the encounter which was scheduled for the Free town Stadium.
Benin would have advanced to the Africa Cup of Nations with a point against Nigeria but couldn’t hang on as they conceded during injury time in their last outing. That setback is not devastating for them but it could’ve turned out that way if they had fallen to defeat against Sierra Leone here.
The hosts on their part while hoping for a reschedule from CAF would leapfrog their opponents with a win but having failed to win any of their five games in the group so far, it will be a tough ask for Sierra Leone. While they have only lost once, they have been unable to find a way to win and another draw looks to be on the cards for them here in a result that would see Benin progress.
Kick442.com is keeping close tabs with sources at CAF to get firsthand further details on the situation.
