Prof. Narcisse Kombi is at it again. The Minister of Sports and Physical Education has instructed the reconstruction of four categories of Cameroon football teams. This is according to a document kick442.com has stumbled on. The categories includes the Women’s national team, Men’s Under 20, Under 17 Women’s team, and Men’s Intermediate National Team.
The observations by the Minister are in view of the past and upcoming football jamborees from May 2019 to June 2020.
The reasons stated on this document are clear and has a lot to do with shambolic performances: the poor showing of the Women’s national team at the WWC in France over a month ago, the embarrassing show of the national A team, unable to get pass the group stages in Morocco back in 2018, the hocus-pocus campaign of the U20 Lions, unable to make the 2019 U20 AFCON in Niger, and the elimination of the U17 Lionesses at the the group stages in the 2018 U17 WWC in Uruguay.
The only two categories untouched are the Under 17 Lions of Thomas Libi who also happen to be the continental kings of their category, and the Olympic Lions of Rigobert Song.
The Minister of Sports and Physical education makes it categorically clear that those coming into the helm of the above mentioned categories should have a professional capacity, a real quality of a potential trainer – notably their sense of general interest, experience, be a patriot, have a good moral behavior, take engagements to produce good results. In this light, all the CV’s of those interested should be put together from this moment.
Mister Kombi has been working hand in glove with the Cameroon Football Federation to prepare other categories of the national football teams closer to competitions like the Under 23 team and the Under 17 Men’s team.
Minister Kombi’s demands therefore puts the position of the following coaches in doubts:
Alain Djeumfa-Senior Women’s Team
Christophe Ousmanou-Under 20 Men’s Team
Stephane Ndzana-Under 17 Women’s team
Rigobert Song- Intermediate National Team
Song’s case is different he will stay at work with the Under 23 Lions but there is need for staffs to fill the vacancy he created in the ranks of the Intermediate team.
The Minister of Sports prof. Narcisse Mouelle Kombi has not been slow to fly the underperforming coach’s out of the blocks. The last example is his press outing on state media before the sacking of Dutch duo, Seedorf and Kluivert as head coaches of the national team after a performance considered by many to be a complete debacle.
It is important to remark that before we stumbled on this communiqué kick442.com had reported without precision possible changes for these different categories of the national teams.
