The World Football Governing body have Announced that the traditional FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy tour will begin a two-months journey across six continents this Sunday. Yaounde having an appointment with the football jewel on the 9th of April.
The trophy leaves the French City of Paris this Sunday to make a first stop at Montego Bay on the 3rd of March and will spend two days in most of the cities until the end of the Women’s World Cup trophy tour in Toronto on the 30 of April.
Some top Cities around the world like;Madrid,Oslo,Miami,Santiago,London, Edinburgh,San Francisco amongst others will be priveledge to receive the Women’s Football Jewel.
Cameroon’s Capital city,Yaounde will be the second of three cities in Africa where the trophy will be displayed. The trophy will be in Yaounde on April 9,two days after it’s first African Stop in Durban-South Africa before leaving Yaounde for a stop in Lagos- Nigeria on the 11 of April.
The tour is usually and opportunity for FIFA to creat awareness about an upcoming tournament so as to attract lovers around the world to the competitions host Country.
The 4.6kg,47 Cm trophy
designed by William Sawaya and hand-crafted by Milanese specialists Sawaya & Moroni in 1998 in time for the 1999 tournament,will return to France on the 2nd of May ahead of the 24 Nations World Cup to take place in the country from the 7 of June to July 7.
Africa will be represented by 2015 16th finalist;Cameroon,debutants;South Africa and 1999 Quarter finalist; Nigeria.
