Cameroon’s team doctor William Ngatchou has confirmed Indomitable Lions forward Diederrick Joel Tagueu will not participate in the 2019 AFCON Tournament currently taking place in Egypt due to a heart problem detected this Monday.
The 26 year old Portugal based forward on the books of Maritimo in the Portuguese top flight had made coach Seedorf’s cut for the tournament but will have to wait further his international debut in a major tournament for Cameroon.
The Nkongsamba native scored 7 goals last season for Maritimo but according to reports from the medical staff of the Cameroonian team doctor,the player has a life threatening heart problem which which was first detected during the team’s preparation in Qatar.
Cameroon have informed CAF an the situation and plan on replacing the player 24 hours before their first game in the tournament against Guinéa on Tuesday at Ismaïla.
Still in the Lions Den,right back Fai Collins Ngoran will miss Tuesday’s game due to accumulated bookings.
