PWD Social club of Bamenda has this Thursday March 28, 2019, dismissed Jean Baptiste Toguem from his duties as head coach. The decision come just hours after the Abakwa boys suffered their 5th defeat of the season, against Colombe of the Dja and Lobo.
After the game against Colombe, Jean Baptiste Toguem confirmed to Kick442.com yaounde based reporter, that pressure was mounting on him due to poor results. He said “it’s very normal. When you are a coach and the results are not coming, you have to prepare yourself. It’s not my fault, because it’s the same team I qualified to league one”.
The Abakwa Boys have been in a poor run of results in their comeback season in the top tier championship, were they have recorded just two wins in 11 playing days, suffering five defeats and three draws. The team is currently ranked last in pool A of the championship and their 1#0 defeat to Colombe this Thursday came to complicate a already difficult situation for PWD. The team is winless out of home this season, with only one point recorded in six away games this term.
Jean Baptiste Toguem who himself is a former PWD player, guided the Abakwa boys to a second place finish in the league two championship last season, recording 16 wins in 28 games, 7 draws and 5 defeats, stagging a great come back to the top tier championship, after close to 15 years in the inferior leagues.
Our sources have confirmed that the Abakwa Boys are in search of a new head coach, with the new coach expected to be announced in the hours ahead. Some few names shortlisted as potential replacement for Jean Baptiste Toguem, has filtered to our news room. Kick442.com had earlier reported that former cotonsport boss, Bertin Ebwelle was contacted for the top job, but he turned it down in order to concentrate in his coaching course in France. But now our sources have confirmed that one candidate is leading the race to being the next head coach of PWD. The supposedly next PWD head coach, watched their 1#0 defeat against Colombe in yaounde, and is expected to sign a one and a half year contract in the hours ahead.
