Samuel Eto’o Fils, the president of the Cameroon Football Federation has signed a decision suspending a key member of the Indomitable Lions staff with immediate effect.
According to the document signed by president Eto’o on December 31, Ferdinand Makota who was appointed Liason Officer of the Cameroon team, alongside the rest of the staff in September 2019 has been suspended with immediate effect.
Though details which led to the decision were not communicated, a portion of the document reminds Mr Makota of the obligation to have an exemplary behavior as a staff of the national team.
In a recent publication, Cameroon online media Sportsvibes.net reported that Makota was involved in a sex scandal, and this can be linked to the recent decision.
Barely a week before Cameroon’s first game at the 2021 TotalErnegies Africa Cup of Nations Tournament against Burkina Faso, it is unclear if Makota will be replaced or not.
Cameroon follow up the opener on January 9 with games against Ethiopia on January 13 and Cape Verde four days later.
The Indomitable Lions are chasing a sixth crown at the 33rd edition of the 24 nations tournament and now look certain to do so without Makota.
