Gazelle FA of Garoua has defeated Aigle Royal of the Menoua two goals to one, to win the Elite two championship. Moubarak Abdoul Aziz scored at the last minute of Extra time, to secure a big win for Gazelle.
Gazelle’s Hadji Issa Moustapha had a goal ruled out for offside at the 37 minute, but Aigle gave the perfect reaction as they took the league minutes later (39), via Franck Kiben.
Hulrich Olomo and Serge Bengono were brought in early in the second half for Aigle, with Yvan Guebedena and goal scorer Franck Kiben ceding their places.
Amadou Mahamat was introduced by Gazelle, to take the place of Altine Halirou.
Pushed by the home crowd, Gazelle multiplied several attacking moves, and it paid off at the 77 minute, when captain Marius Kalgon Kada smashed home the equalizer.
Gazelle had a glorious chance to win the game with just three minutes of regulation time left to play (87), when they won a penalty, but Amadou Mahamat’s weak shot from the spot was saved by goalkeeper Abakar Arafat, forcing the game to extra time.
Gazelle’s Marie Materne Sylvestre Mekongo saw red after collecting his second booking of the game.
Goalkeeper Abakar Arafat was kept busy all through, and made vital saves to prevent Gazelle from going ahead.
Aigle’s Gide Marcel Djialeu was sent off with just three minutes of Extra time left to play, after receiving his second yellow of the game in an attempt to stop a counter attack from Gazelle.
Moubarak Abdoul Aziz Snatch the winner for Gazelle at the 119th minute, heading in a corner kick, as Gazelle won 2#1 to Emerge Elite two champions.
Two teams from Garoua, Cotonsport and Gazelle, have now won the Elite one and two championships in the same campaign.
