India Premier League current champions Kerala FC have announced the recruitment of 23-year old Cameroon international Auguste Junior Boum Somlaga.
The club took to social media to announce the deal on Sunday after securing the player’s release from Libyan Al Afriqi Derna SC after just seven months on their books.
Somlaga has penned a two-year deal to join the club thus taking the number of Cameroonian employees at the club to three – adding to head coach Richard Towa and half-back Aminou Bouba.
A product of the Little Foot FC of Tiko Academy, Boum first moved abroad in January 2021, joining South African second tier side JDR Stars.
The switch to Kerala provides another opportunity for the goal poacher to torment defenders in a completely new environment.
Somlaga is expected to be an impact player in Kerala’s AFC Champions League campaign in the coming season.
Before leaving Cameroon, Boum had had call ups to the country’s U17, U20, U23 and intermediate teams.
