Buea United Star-forward ,Bosten Mofa ended his goal drought and scored from the spot kick as they stormed Continental FA Buea 3-0 to spark wild celebrations in a thrilling derby at the Molyko Omnisport Stadium on Sunday.
Three second half goals from the Buea United’s attacking trio restored their dignity coming off the back of a defeat against Mount Cameroon during their previous fixture.
Sundays win- the second of the season secured the Mountain boys a third spot of their group behind current league leaders EEMSA (15 points) and second placed CUSA ( 13 points).
Continental FA dominated a goalless first half as lackluster Buea United failed to muster a single decent shot.
Dominant Continental made things tough for their rivals but finding the back of the net seemed to be a far-fetched reality as they struggled to carve out accurate finishes.
The second half was more entertaining that the first.
Oscar Ikome’s 51st min firm header went past Continental keeper- Stephen Junior to give BU the lead.
Bosten Mofa doubled the lead at the 56th min with a fine spot kick finish after Emerant Mututu was fouled and awarded a penalty kick.
Buea United completed their comeback through Emerant Mututu who benefited from Bosten’s 67th min cross to score at ease.
There are obviously ‘positives’ to retain from Buea United’s astonishing performance. The team has been struggling to contain their group opponents- but the new BU gaffer is re-assured they are on track.
This is his first win in charge of the rejuvenated squad and his second match in charge
‘We have really good players in the team’ BU Coach
‘I thank God for today’s victory. I came in barely two days before my former fixture which I lost to Mount Cameroon. We went back during our five day training session to work on the weaknesses and strength of the team. We have really good players in the team. Perhaps cohesion wise and finishing is the problem. We also see they are less physical’
‘I don’t really have pressure. Am trying to put in what I like my team to do. Am trying to build my own philosophy. If we don’t make it to the mini inter-pool, we will thank God. But the main issue is we are going to prepare well for next year. This is a team I will take my time to shape for next season’
Buea United hard fought victory over Continental propels them back to winning ways and a potential threat to future opponents.
