Japanese based Nigerian tactician Obalola Bolarinwa has confessed that the inspiration to play his style of football came from Dutch Legend Johan Cryuff and Spaniard Pep Guardiola.
Bolarinwa, who has spent over a decade managing teams in Japan highlighted his qualities and how he loves his team to play the dutch type of play called tiki-taka.
The gaffer, who has a UEFA ‘B’ Coaching license told Family United by Football (FUBF) that both football icons have an outstanding, amazing, and huge influence on him as a coach.
“No doubt, these guys have made me understand football better and I get a lot of inspiration from them.
” As a coach you always want your team to play well and after understudying their style of play when I went for my KNVB course in Amsterdam, I realized that the dutch philosophy of play is the best.
Obalola, who is the Director of Misa Soccer Academy, Tokyo Japan is of the opinion that lack of properplayers’ data hinders the player’s developments in Nigeria.
“In Japan, there are records of cadet players right from U-8, U-9, U-10, and so on. The matches played by these lads are even on tapes which one can fall back on for reference. Obalola told FUBF.
“Nigeria grassroots football must be rejigged and thorough developments must take place for our players to have a longer career. Most Nigerian players coming down to Japan lack basics and it’s difficult for them to have the cutting edge here because of the football structure here.
“I am still under contract here but one day, if any opportunity of such comes my way, I won’t hesitate to grab it and work for my fatherland because, l still feel l have a lot of basics to inject into our football system.” Kobayashi, a graduate of Human Kinetics and Health Education from the University of Nigeria concluded.
