If the news reaching www.kick442.com is anything to go by, there might be light at the end of the tunnel for Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) side, Invincible Angels as the Benue State Government are set to take over the Club.
Benue State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Comr. Ojotu Ojema hinted at the state’s intending takeover of the club when he received the management of Invincible Angels FC of Gboko at his office in Makurdi.
He stated that the club had done so much in developing women’s football in Benue state and Nigeria in general having produced national team players most of who are plying their trade abroad.
Ojema added, that it was the right thing to do for Benue state to also have a women football team just like other states in Nigeria more so that Invincible Angels FC was already on ground with a good structure and is willing to hand over the team to the state government.
He expressed his willingness to present a memo to the State Executive Council on the matter and to revive the 6 member committee earlier set by his predecessor to work out modalities for the take over of the club.
Ojema commended the management of Invincible Angels FC for their resilience in the face of daunting challenges, assuring that the state government would look into some of their pressing needs while working out modalities for government take over.
Earlier, the chief servant of the Club, Apostle Chur Jnr. MichaelRandy had enumerated the contributions of Invincible Angels FC to the development of Women football in Nigeria to include the discovery of great players like Francisca Ordega, Alice Ogebe, Mary Anam Imo, Soo Adekwagh, Loveth Ayila, Dooshima Tarnum, Adoo Yina, and Hembafan Ayatsea among other great players who he said are playing all over the world.
Chur however lamented the relegation of Invincible Angels Fc from Nigeria Women Premier League to the Nigeria Women Championship League due to inadequate sponsorship.
He mentioned other challenges to include payment of Clubhouse rents, lack of club bus, kits, and equipment among others, and called for government take over for better sponsorship.
On the entourage of MichaelRandy were: Team Manager, Engr. George Igbana, Assistant Team Manager, (ATM)Mrs. Hembafan Tomwase, Secretary, Mrs. Esther Akosu, Marketing Manager, Amos Gbatse, Welfare Officer, Ujah Godfrey and yours sincerely, Abraham Ayangakuma- Media Officer.
