Christian Atsu and close collaborators have come out to refute ‘unfounded’ claims of the winger, putting a pause to international football, a star contrast to what some Ghanaian media centers had reported 24 hours earlier.
In a tête à tête with Footballghana.com, one of the player’s associate voiced: ” he has not communicated to C. K. Akonnor that he has retired from the national team. They had a fruitful discussion when Akonnor visited him in England.
“Atsu told the coach he should excuse him from the Sudan game because he just returned from injury but he pledged his support to the coach.
“I will urge Ghanaians to disregard any reports. Atsu is still a member of the Black Stars and ready to play anytime he is called upon.”
The rumour of Christian Atsu’s retirement that spread like wildfire didn’t go down well with the Ghanaian international who still has more than enough game time between his cleats.
Christian Atsu is only 28, and to many Black Stars fans he wouldn’t be losing his ‘moju’ anytime soon. Christian Atsu is only witnessing his peak where his full qualities could reach an exclamation point in the forthcoming football jamborees in-and-around the continent.
