After a sterling FIBA World Cup outing, Nigeria male basketball team, D’Tigers has moved up 10 places in the latest Nike/FIBA ranking as they now ranked 23rd in the world.

D’Tigers who became the first country in the world to qualify for the World Cup won 3 games and lost 2 to finish on the 17th spot out of the 32 teams in China. This also ensured that they seal qualification for next year’s Tokyo 2020 Olympics basketball event.
D’Tigers are first in Africa ahead of Angola (32) and Tunisia (33).

Nigeria female Basketball team, D’Tigress on the other hand moved up 15 spots on FIBA Rankings. After defending their Women Afribasket trophy, Nigeria are now 19th in the world and second in Africa behind Senegal (17) and ahead of Angola (20). D’Tigress also reached the quarter final stage of last FIBA Women World Cup finishing 8th at the tournament.

In the world Rankings for men, the United States of America are still top after finishing 7th at the last world cup which happens to be their lowest ranking at the tournament.
World Champions, Spain are in second position ahead of Australia.
