Barcelona, Inter Milan and Cameroon Legend, Samuel Eto’o to be paid 650 million Francs for an unauthorized use of his image by telecommunication giants, Orange Cameroon according to the ruling of a Cameroonian Court.
Recently, Orange Cameroun has been running several adverts using Samuel Eto’o which breaches their contract and this was done without the backing of his legal team. Orange Cameroun was filed for misuse of image and after months of courts review, today the mobile network company has been found guilty and labelled a 1,000,000 Euro fine equivalent to 650 million Francs which is to be paid to the Football Legend thus making him even richer after retiring from Football.
An image of the two times back to back treble winner is worth millions especially when used for business adverts and before his image can be used, his legal department must be contacted after which permission and duration of usage will be given but it is actually surprising how an organisation as big as Orange Cameroun could have made such a terrific mistake, but having done so, they will have to face the consequences which is the payment of the sum of 650 million Francs to the Football Legend.
