The next Lille match is upon us! The preparations for the 2022-23 season will take the French Ligue 1 giants to Belgium on Monday for a local friendly against FC Brugge, and Paulo Alexandre Rodrigues Fonseca has drafted 18-year old Cameroonian sensation Carlos Noom Balepa in his squad traveling to Brugge.
Balepa who came on midweek against Dunkerque and did well is expected to get more minutes in the next game as the club prepares him for the new season with Amadou Onana’s departure in the offing.
With the squad having only been together for a little over a week and 12 players having just returned from vacation after international commitments in June, it is understandable that the first squad list of preseason has quite a few names that fans won’t instantly recognize.
A number players from Lille reserves and the under-19s have been called up for this one, including the very exciting Geoffrey Bazie from Burkina Faso who has a chance to be the next big thing and make an improbable rise to first team stardom if he can shine in preseason.
Other names of note include defender Yoro who is hoping for a great preseason to go into the new campaign at 100%.
Balepa moved to France in February this year but is edging close to being an impact addition for the first team.
