In her first outing in the ongoing African youth Badminton in Benin, Cameroon’s Caren Ze Leticia Akoumba has claimed Bronze for her country.
The 18-year old Athlete was exempted from the first round of the tournament for being Champion of Cameroon but in the second round she showed her class.
She defeated Benin’s Pernelle Fabossou after just two sets before moving on to defeat Ruth Gnasounou and South Africa’s Deidre Lauren.
The victory means Ze will represent Cameroon at the upcoming Under-19 Championship to also happen in Benin.
In a related development, Maeva Princia Anamba also recorded her first win in her young career during this championship.
Maeva and Ze will form a Cameroonian pair that was defeated in the quarter-final by team Benin of Ruth and Pernelle after three sets.
According to the communications director of the Federation, the Cameroon men’s Badminton team represented Gilles Donguitsop and Paul Christ Assembe will be in Benin in the days ahead for a similar competition under the guidance of coach Constant Sack.
Badminton is striving to be one of the Sports bringing glory to the country lately.
