Former Arsenal and French international right-back, Bacary Sagna has given his opinion on the uncertainty surrounding the future of Arsenal captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
30-year-old Aubameyang is heavily linked with a move away from the North London club, with Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid, PSG, FC Barcelona and Inter Milan all interested.
Sagna has told current management of Arsenal to do everything to keep the Gabonese forward and offer him a better wage package.
“He should not go because Arsenal are trying to build something solid,” Sagna told Goal.
“They[Arsenal] cannot afford to lose him. If they have to pay more, they should simply go ahead and do so. Replacing him with another player of his qualities will cost them £150 million.
“It’s better not to spend £150 million, simply spend £50 million by offering more to him. The same thing that happened with Van Persie, I think they should have learnt from that situation.
“Auba deserves it. I am not saying this because of his name or because he has scored many goals. He is the best striker in the championship.”
The former Saint-Etienne and Dortmund forward is still tied to Arsenal until June 2021.
Across all competitions, the native of Laval has scored 20 goals in 32 games this season.
