The head coach of the female national U17 football team the Black Maidens Baba Nuhu has stated that he is determined to qualify his team to the World Cup regardless of which opponents comes their way during the qualifications campaign.
“Mallam” as he is affectionately called led his charges to eliminate another West African side Liberia after whitewashing them 10-0 on aggregate in the second round of Africa’s qualification series.Ghana had Nigeria to beat to book their ticket to the world cup until the suspension due to the novel and deadly coronavirus pandemic which has claimed multitude of lives across the globe.
In an interview with YES FM in Cape Coast asked whether his side could have beaten Nigeria to pick one of Africa’s ticket to the next World Cup in India the former Bolga All Stars gaffer said: “we have not gotten there if we get there definitely we shall. That is the ultimate aim of everybody,and so my predecessors did qualified so we are also to do well to beat anybody who comes our way to qualify but unfortunately this is the situation that we find ourselves”
On the covid 19 pandemic,Mallam prayed for a quick exit so that the qualification could continue and also admonished all and sundry to observe all the protocol prescribed by WHO and the leadership of the country.
Ghana has qualified for every edition of the competition since its inception 12 years ago and Baba Nuhu is expected to mastermind another qualification this year.
The 43 year old deputized for Augustine Evans Adotey in the last edition of the Mundial held in Uruguay in 2018 which Ghana exited at the quarter finals stage.
Ghana became the first team on the continent to win medal(bronze) at the world stage in Azabaijan in 2012 under the tutelage of Mas Ud Didi Dramani.
