An initiative dubbed “B.O.N.E and Kick442 versus Covid-19″ has been launched this Monday in the Tiko Municipality in the Southwest Region of Cameroon to combat the deadly CoronaVirus pandemic.
B.O.N.E which stands for Buea United, Options Sports Academy, Nkamanyi FI Kumba and EEMSA Tiko have put resources together to distribute over 600 medically certified nose mask to footballers and other actors in Tiko, Buea, Limbe and Kumba [which are the base of the above-mentioned clubs] .
Monday’s distribution exercise in the Tiko Sub division targeted football actors and auxiliary stakeholders in the Mutengene, Tiko Douala road and the Street-six neighborhood under the stewardship of Mr Dikongue of EEMSA of Tiko and Angu Lesley of kick442.com.
The same exercise was carried out in other target cities with the exception of Kumba.
The beneficiaries expressed their facial satisfaction and immediately put the mask into use as prescribed by the government.
Speaking to kick442.com at the end of the day, one of the event Dikongue stressed on health being a priority.
“We thought of how we can give back to our community and decided to come up with this initiative. We started today and have visited different neighborhoods in the Tiko sub division. The same thing is happening in Buea. We have started with four clubs because the idea just came up over the weekend and we had to get together a few friends to start the distribution as government insisted people can’t go around without the mask”.Dikongue stated.
Football in the Southwest Region has been off since March 15 because of the health threats presented by the CoronaVirus pandemic. Dikongue is not worried by how long they stakeholders have to wait.
“Well, we miss football but we must be cautious because without good health we can’t practice football. We are using this opportunity to call on all footballers and stake holders in the region to respect government and World health organization’s measures. In the meantime we are giving out nose mask as our minimum support to our immediate environment as we hope it can help to stop the spread of the CoronaVirus”:Dikongue concluded.
We intend to include more clubs over time but we are on the field today because it is a matter of urgency our people needed the mask from today and we will continue with the free distribution of other Covid-19 battle aids in the days ahead” :Dikongue ended.
Buea United of Buea of President Valery, Options Sports of Limbe Neba Henry, Nkamanyi FI of Kumba, EEMSA of Tiko of Mr Dikongue and online sports news outlet Kick442.com in collaboration with Tatu Engelbert will continue their campaign in the days ahead.
