After the exciting finals clash between two African Volleyball powerhouses in Cameroon and Kenya,the Lionesses has been considered as a deserved victory by many amongst which the best defender of the tournament ,lady Kundu Agripina from Kenya.
Kundu is amongst the athletes that were decorated at the end of the competition and thinks she is satisfied with her performance and the better side won the trophy.
Kundu is one of the players who would be going back to Nairobi- Kenya without any regret because of her work on the court. Kundu was voted the tournaments all defensive player.
The lady representing country in the individual trophy podium for her first time expressed her emotions after winning the prize:” The tournament was better, we tried our best. We really wanted to win this trophy but unfortunately, it did not go as planned, next time we would work hard for it. We played well today maybe it’s God’s plan you never know, but next time we would work hard for it. The Cameroon team is very good, they have really improved. Their different departments are working really well. As Kenyan’s we are going to work hard and come back stronger”.
When asked how she felt after receiving her personal accolade, she said: “I am very happy happy. I did not know I would be the best defender, I worked hard for it, it is not easy to be the best defender. I thank God for that personal accolade” .
Kenya and Kundu are still leading from the top with 9 gold medals at the AWVC. The next priority of the Kenyan team would be to be present in the 2020 Olympics.
