Awono Junior has continued his wonderful debut campaign in the South African second division championship with another class midfield performance this weekend.

The Stellenbosch’s midfielder won over 50% of his duels as his side beat Ajax Cape town by two goals to one to open a 5 points lead on Mbombela United.

Ajax came to Stellenbosch in second place hoping to get a win that could have taken them closer to leaders Stellenbosch FC.Unfortunately for Ajex,the boys of Coach,Steve Barker Dispatched were on their “A” game and dispatched them with a 2-1 win.

Stellenbosch now have 37 points after 18 First Division games and are 5 points clear from second place Mbombela as the season enter the “marathon phase”

Awono told kick442.com before the start of the second round of the Championship that, he wants to be champion of this Championship come the end of the season.

The former Intermediate Lion captain was yet again dominant in the midfield area to give his club their 11th win of the season.Awono has played all but one league match this season as he and his club take another step towards the South Africa Premier Soccer League.
