The head coach of the Queen scorpions of Gambia Mariama Bom Sowe, is confident that her team will pick all three points against Cameroon, so as to better celebrate the independence day of the Republic of Gambia.
The Queen Scorpions of The Gambia will clash with the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon at the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium in Yaoundé on Friday afternoon, in the away leg last round qualifiers for the Women’s African Cup of Nations scheduled for Morocco later this year.

Friday’s game coincides with the celebration of the celebration of the 57 years of independence of the Gambia (Gambia got its independence on February 18, 1965), and Mariama Bom Sowe is confident of grabbing three points for a perfect celebration.
“The girls are in high gear, we prepared them mentally and physically towards this game,” Mariama Bom Sowe told GFF media after their recognizance session at the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium on Thursday.
“We’re going to approach them as expected. We are not going to underrate them, because we all know that they’re the second best in Africa and The Gambia are underdogs. Football nowadays, it doesn’t matter who is the best and who can deliver better.
” Everybody is in another level now. We are encountering them tomorrow and we are telling them that we’re coming all out for our three points and celebrate our independence here in Cameroon, because tomorrow is our independence day. We are collecting the three points, then go back to the hotel and celebrate,” Mariama Sowe spoke confidently ahead of Friday’s game.
“We’re prepared for the game and we’re ready for Cameroon. All we need from Gambians is their prayers, then tomorrow we collect our three points then go back and finish the job in Gambia.

Mariama Bom Sowe is hoping to make history with the Queen Scorpions, which will be qualifying them for their maiden AWCON, just like Tom Saintfiet did with their male National team, who were eliminated at the quarter final of the 33rd edition of the AFCON, by Cameroon.
After Friday’s game, both teams will again meet in Banjul in February 23, in the return leg game.
