The Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon will confront their Senegalese counterparts next month in a crucial preparatory fixture ahead of the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
According to our sources officials of the Cameroon and Senegal football federations are in advanced negotiation which could see the women’s team of Cameroon take on their Senegalese counterparts as part of efforts to better prepare thier teams for the June-July AWCON tournament.
Gabriel Zabo’s squad will take on the Teranga Lionesses at the Dakar Stadium as part of an in overseas training camp, with the kick-off time yet to be confirmed.
The Senegal fixture is expected to complete a warm-up schedule which already includes facing other opponents elsewhere – one of which will be in Spain.
Cameroon begin their 2022 Africa Women’s cup of Nations campaign on July 3 against familiar foes Zambia at the historic Mohammed V Stadium.
In the first AWCON tournament since finishing third in Ghana four years ago, Cameroon will complete her group stage task with games against Togo and Tunisia on July 6 and 9 respectively.
Cameroon reached the finals of the 2022 competition after eliminating the Central African Republic and The Gambia in the qualifiers and are expected to be in the business end of the upcoming competition in Morocco which will serve as the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
