Cameroon Guinness Super League Champions, Awa FC stunned 2021 UNIFFAC (Central Africa) Zonal Qualifiers Champions, Malabo Kings with a 0-3 victory to make it to the final of the 2022 Zonal Qualifiers.
After losing the First Round game 1-0 to TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo to make it to the Second Round (semi-final) as the best loser, Awa FC shrugged off the disappointment to defeat Malabo Kings 0-3 on Tuesday.
Felicia Enganemben scored the first goal of the game for the Cameroonian Champions in the 34th minute.
Six minutes later, Jeanne Kouesso doubled the lead for Awa FC.
Brenda Tabe converted the third goal of the game for Awa FC to take the game out of Malabo Kings’ reach.
Malabo Kings won the 2021 UNIFFAC Zonal Qualifiers to qualify for the maiden TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League but won’t make it to this year’s tournament.
It means there will be a debutant from UNIFFAC at this year’s tournament.
Awa FC will face TP Mazembe in the final on September 16, 2022, in a repeat of the First Round tie where the DR Congo side pipped Awa FC 1-0.
The winner of the final will qualify for the 2022 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League.
UNIFFAC Zonal Champions will meet Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies of South Africa, Bayelsa Queens of Nigeria, and Wadi Degla of Egypt in Group B of the 2022 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League.
