14-years-old Athletico Madrid’s Academy player Christian Minchola Sanchez has passed away Saturday, March 28.
The club took to Twitter to announce his dead alongside his photo saying “Atlético de Madrid is mourning the passing of our U14 player Christian Minchola.
“We join in the grief of his family, teammates and friends. May he rest in peace.”
The Peruvian who was a great base for the Spanish club has been there since 2013 and was very active in the children’s category C, scoring over 50 goals for the club’s youth team.
The youngster was considered one of the greatest future for both Spanish side and his country.
The club’s president also took to social media on Saturday to express his on Christian’s dead. “We are shocked by the sad news of the death of our player and deeply regret this loss.”
He assured the deceased family of the club’s solidarity during this period and support in his funeral.
“Athletico de Madrid and the entire Atlético family will be side by side with Christian’s family and friends in these moments of immense pain.”
The cause of his dead is yet to be known. Madrid and Peru have lost a great future, and the two sides continue to mourn his dead.
