Bomba Joseph Martial – the Father of former AS Fortuna of Mfou forward Lionel Ateba Christian Mbida has commented on the recent rumours linking his son with a move to PWD SC of Bamenda.
Ateba has been linked with Elite One heavyweights PWD in the past days, following his demand to seek an amicable exit from rivals Cotonsport.
Multiple champions Canon Yaounde is one of many clubs in the race to sign the 2022 Elite One winner.
However, it seems the Ateba to PWD talks is a matter of time following the ex Etoa Meki striker’s father’s comments on the same issue.
“PWD is a great club in our country. They have become a consistent club in continental competitions. These are very important facts,” Mr Bomba Joseph confided to the kick442.com team.
Ateba only joined Coton last summer, but the club didn’t get the most out of the man they got from AS Fortuna with a huge reputation.
The Ateba to PWD transfer talks has gone down well with his entourage. Ateba’s father, Bomba, who also happens to have been in the heart of most of his previous moves seems interested in the switch to Abakwa. So what can puncture this move ?
PWD guided by coach Martin Nkabyo are rebuilding their squad for the 2022-23 CAF Confederation, the domestic league and cup competitions hoping to reach the group stages in the interclub competitions like the did in 2008.
If all works per PWD’s plans, the acquisition of Ateba who made three appearances in the Confederation cup last season for Coton could be completed soon. The switch from rivals Cotonsport could be huge boast to a PWD squad that have already seen the arrival of some top footballers this window.
