Astres of Douala have completed the signing of wing maestro Ekoi Jonas Lyon on a two-year-deal,kick442.com has been briefed.
The Littoral club reached an agreement for the transfer of the speedy forward this Saturday after weeks of negotiations with his former Club Best Stars Academy of Limbe.
Ekoi joins Astres as a free agent but we understand he has agreed a salary above the government subvention for Elite players. The deal also gives Best Stars part ownership of the player and in case of a move abroad the Limbe outfit will enjoy part of the proceeds.
Moving to Astres ends a five-year stay on the books of Best Stars Academy for 20-year old Ekoi who has been one of the most consistent player at the club in the past years.
Jonas, brother to Ekoi Manfred, developed to a great winger during his time at Best Stars owing to his workrate and energy levels in most of his outings for the vice champions of the Southwest.
In five years at the club Jonas won the regional championship once – During the 2019 season during which he was voted Southwest Regional League player of the season.
The move to the Brazilians of Bepanda will provide the first opportunity for Ekoi to savour any kind of professional football.
Astres are assembling a squad for the 2022/23 season hoping to repeat their great ride during the just-ended season in which they reached the title playoffs and the quarter-final of the Cup of Cameroon.
He could make his competitive debut for the club in the month of October as the top tier championship in Cameroon is slated to get underway on October 15.
In the 48 hours, Mambu Daniel, Eta Kufre and Ekoi Jonas have left Best Stars Academy in search of fresh opportunities.
