Cameroon League 2 side AS Matelots have appointed former Stade Renard of Melong coach Leon Tchuente as their head coach for the next season.

The man who played a key role in the promotion of Stade Renard of Melong to the Top flight in 2015 had been out of work before his latest appointment.

Leon Tchuente brings alot of experience to the club having worked at multiple clubs in the land and inherit a Matelots side that barely avoided the relegation abattle last term.

The former Union Sportive of Douala player who also coach at DAC 2000,Caiman and New Stars of Douala Masterminded Stade Renard’s promotion from the Regional League to the top flight.

He was deputy to coach Jean Pierre Ngwe in Stade Renard’s first League 1 season, he took charge of the team after the departure of his head coach mid-way into the season and helped Stade Renard to the 5th spot in that campaign.

He has pen a 1 season deal with an option for another season at the club.
