Nigeria’s Tennis number one, Aruna Quadri joined efforts with teammates to hand his team TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell it third win of the season in the Table Tennis Budesliga (TTBL) against rivals TTC OE Bad Homburg.
Aruna won the third set for his team in the first Hessenderby of the two clubs on Saturday afternoon.
The world number 20 played against Maksim Grebnev and mercilessly used his strong forehand to triumph 3: 0 (11: 8, 11: 5, 11: 9).
Ruwen Filus earlier had made the job easy for Aruna’s team after beating the first two opponents to make it 2-0.
The 32-year-old’s strong nerves contributed two points to the team’s success against strong opponents. He defeated Lev Katsman 3: 2 (11: 6, 11: 9, 9:11, 9:11, 11: 6) and Rares Sipos3: 2 (12:14, 11: 7, 11: 6, 7:11, 11: 5).
Bad Homburg’s only point was achieved by Sipos, who had fan Bo Meng firmly under control and celebrated his debut win in the TTBL with 3: 0 (11: 9, 12:10, 11: 7) thanks to a strong backhand game in the fifth attempt.
