Africa number one table tennis player, Aruna Quadri has reached the round of 32 of the Liebherr 2019 ITTF World Table Tennis Championships in Budapest beating his Iranian opponent Nima Alamian 4-3 (11-9,10-12,11-13,11-8,5-11,13-11,10-12).
It was a very close contest but Aruna Quadri gets the job done 4-3 against Alamian Nima in round of 64.
Quadri who is seeded 22 had defeated Lambeit Florent in the round of 128 and hopes to improve as the tournament progresses. He remains the only African hopeful as Omar Assar and Saleh Ahmed have both crashed out in the round of 128.
Aruna is known for his forehand oriented playing style, which enables him to get lots of wins.
At the World Cup 2014, he reached the quarter finals in the Men’s Singles competition.
In Germany 2017, Aruna competed in the World Championships seeded as number 30 defeating Chilean player Gustavo Gómez (4-0). He was however defeated in the second round by Danish player and number 34 seed, Jonathan Groth.
This time he will be seeking to better that performance or replicate his wonderful performance in Belgium at the Men’s World Cup were he lost at the semi finals to the eventual winner, Germany’s Dimitrij Ovtcharovr in the semi finals.
