Indomitable of Lions Cameroon and Al-Raed midfielder Arnaud Djoum Suitchine was one of the scorers in his 2-3 win away to Al Ahli in match-day 25 of the Saudi Arabian top-flight championship.
The experienced Cameroon international scored his side’s third goal in the first segment of the game that initially looked like a comfortable victory in the making before the host rallied to make it a nail bitting clash towards the end.
Djoum’s Al-Raed raced into a three-nil lead barely 28 minutes into the game, after El Berkaoui scored twice in the 16th and 24th minute and Djoum got the third without reply in the 28th minute.
At three-nil it promised to be an easy Thursday fixture for Al-Raed who took the 3-0 lead to the break.
Al-Raed returned for second segment looking as resolute in defending as Al Ahli were keen on scoring.
The host finally found the visitors net in the 72nd minute through Abu Radeah before Al Soma converted a 91st minute penalty to make it 3-2 with seconds left.
The game ended on the 3-2 advantage in favour of Djoum and Al-Raed despite the late efforts from the host.
The match-day 25 victory takes Al-Raed up to the 8th spot on the log with 32 points from 25 games, of which 31-year old Djoum has featured in 21, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
The native of Yaoundé-Cameroon won his 25th cap for country in the last international break, against Cape Verde Island in a 3-1 defeat for 2017 AFCON winner and his mates on the day.
Djoum recently revealed he is keeping his performances at optimum in order to earn a place and make an impact during the 2021 AFCON tournament in Cameroon early next year.
