Cotonsport goalkeeper Anye Fru Derick has kept more consecutive clean sheets (5) than any other shot-stopper in MTN Elite One championship this season, kick442.com data has revealed.
The Cameroon international, who was on hand to help Coton progress to the third spot in the log on Sunday afternoon as they beat YAFOOT FC, has been in inspired form between the sticks in the last six matches this season, producing a string of fine performances.
Having faced no shortage of game time in during the previous regime, the former Panthere man is enjoying most successful season in two years on the books of the defending champions, attracting widespread praise and plaudits from fellow team-mates, managers, pundits and supporters.
Since the arrival of coach Gabriel Hamann, Time and time again, Anye has spared Coton’s blushes, with the clean sheets to the likes of PWD, Dragon and Bamboutos FC largely thanks to his goalkeeping heroics.
Now, data has revealed just how influential and important he has been for the new Cotonsport team under Hamann, this term looks to be a promising one for the keeper who won the league last season.
Cotonsport’s latest win takes Coton up to the third spot in the league with 18 points, five points off leaders Eding Sport at the close of the first round of the championship massive improvement from the last but one position a month ago with Anye as a spectator.
Anye Derick’s latest clean sheet for Cotonsport is his fifth in a spin and he becomes the first Coton goalkeeper to keep five consecutive clean sheets since Simon Omossola last did in Coton’s title winning 2018 season.
The ex- Union and Panthere has been beaten once in his last 652 minutes of football for the Cotonites.
