Anye Derick Fru has finally received a work permit to play football in South Africa three weeks after joining Maritzburg from Cotonsport of Garoua.
The Cameroon international, who signed for Maritzburg United in July from homeland side Coton, spent his first days in South Africa watching from the stands.
Having finally racked up the necessary formalities to qualify for their next DSTV Premiership , the 26-year-old could now partake in the Team of choice’s matchday four game when they face Brice Ambina’s Cape Town City on the road on Tuesday.
Because Nkosi “King” Ndlovu has played all three games this season in an uncinvincing manner, the Anye page may open from matchday four at the Athlone Stadium.
Anye could have the opportunity to showcase his knowhow abroad again, after a successful previous stint abroad with Saudi Arabia side Al-Shoalah FC in 2019.
The keeper finished the 2021-2022 season as the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets (14 in 20 games) and didn’t concede in two cup of Cameroon games, making him one of two keepers yet to concede in the competition this season.
In the international scene, Anye was a part of the Intermediate Lions of Cameroon team at CHAN 2016 in Rwanda and CHAN 2018 in Morocco.
The goalkeeper noted for his poweress on one-on-one situation and exceptional reflexes was also part of the Indomitable Lions team pre-selected for AFCON 2017 by Hugo Broos but he failed to make the cut for the tournament which Cameroon won in Gabon.
