Indomitable Lions of Cameroon trainer Antonio Conceiçao Da Silva Oliviera has showered praises on Harold Moukoudi for the strong start of life in the Lions den.
Speaking in a recent interview, coach Antonio Conceiçao revealed in no time Harold has settled into life in the den and is one of the Pillars of the Conceiçao.
“Harold is one of the players that I brought to the national selection. I see that he is improving with every game at club level and for me, it is fundamental in his progress,” coach Conceiçao revealed.
In all honesty, Harold Moukoudi has improved in the past 12 months. His performance for the Club and country has been quite commendable. After failing to represent his country during match-day one and two of the 2021 AFCON qualifiers, he made his debut for Cameroon against Tunisia in a 0-0 draw in Rades. The 22-year-old followed that up with an impressive display in another goalless draw against Japan earlier this year before two strong outings against Mozambique in November 2020.
At Club level he has also improved, making the cut in every other game with solid displays to show for. Conceiçao believes the player’s run of games at the French Club is pivotal in his development.
“Harold is someone who needs the competition to gain confidence and reach his full potential. Since taking over as manager, Harold has always been one of my options. At the beginning, we had to sort out some administrative issues but, since the match against Japan on October 9 (0-0), he can play normally with us and is among the first names that I check off on the score sheet. I am very happy with him. He won his place in the selection and is one of my top choices for the upcoming assignment for country.”
Moukoudi can boast of four impressive performances in four outings for Cameroon and looks destined for greatness especially as he is just 22.
His trainer in the Cameroon National selection says the boy knows what to do to reach full potential.
“Younger, before he signed for Saint-Étienne, many saw great potential in Harold. What is it really? For me, we are already dealing with a very good player to play in French Ligue 1. Now, if he wants to see higher than Saint-Étienne, play the Top 5 in France and Europe regularly, he will have to gain consistency and consistency in his performances. This will come through work, through the experience he is gaining in Saint-Étienne… He must go step by step, that he establishes himself as a defensive framework for Saint Etienne. Harold needs to set career goals for himself. In terms of qualities, technique, talent, he has all the prerequisites for a successful career. But it’s really up to him to define what his next steps will be,” coach Conceiçao concluded about the former Boro defender.
The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon will assemble again in March for match-day five of the 2021 AFCON qualifiers against Cape Verde.
