Another Injury at FC Porto:Time for Marius Mouandilmadji to step in?

FUTEBOL - Marega lesiona-se durante o jogo V Guimaraes - FC Porto relativo 20 Jornada da Primeira Liga realizado no Estadio D Afonso Henriques em Guimaraes. Domingo, 03 de Fevereiro de 2019 .ASF/HELENA VALENTE V GUIMARAES - FC PORTO

The 2004 Champions league winners are in big trouble, as they will be without marks-man Moussa Marega for upto 2 months due to a leg muscle injury sustained in the 0-0 against Guimaraes over the weekend.

The Malian striker has been involve in anything good at the club up till this point, and the two months injury means the striker would miss out on some tough round of fixtures;the Champions League round of 16 game against A.S Roma, an intriguing league game against Benfica, and the crucial Portuguese cup game against Braga.

The Porto faithful are disappointed with the new developments, giving the striker’s red hot form at the moment;
The striker is the 6th highest goal scorer in this year’s Champions league group stage, appearing on the score sheet 5 times and assisting a team mate once. The story is not different in the Portuguese league with the striker progressing in the perking order with 7 goals and 5 assist in the Liga NOS.

Porto seem to be in a dark clouds, as one of their goal-hunters has already been watching from the sidelines for over 6 months; Vincent Aboubakar is still nursing an injury, and with the transfer window closed, Porto would need to put faith in their youths, as they spent mostly on the defensive unit in January; bringing in Kepla Lima to stabilize their back line.

Marius Mouandilmadji

The injury woes has limited coach Sergio Paulo’s options upfront, and this might be the time for teenagers like Marius Mouandilmadji to rise to the occasion.
