Another person has been arrested in connection with the case of former footballer of the year, Ronaldinho.
Zach Lowy who has been following the case reports that Wilson Guzmán Arellano (23), the son of a powerful official who works in Paraguay’s Migrations Department (Bernardo Arellano), was arrested in connection with the creation of Ronaldinho’s false passports on Tuesday.
Judge Cynthia Lovera has also ordered for his detainment.
After 32 days in prison, Ronaldinho and his brother had been released after paying bail.
However, they were to remain under house arrest in their Paraguayan hotel.
The ex-Brazilian international was arrested for fake documents in Paraguay last month.
Ronaldinho fell under Article 246 of Paraguay’s penal code which states that:
“Anyone who produces or uses an unauthentic documentation with the intention of tricking with legal authorities will be punished with a custodial sentence up to 5 or with a fine.”
It was reported that Ronaldinho went to Paraguay to promote his biography, “Gênio em vida,” or “Genius in life.”
That’s the heartbreaking story of Ronaldinho: a genius on the pitch ruined by his career-debilitating decisions off the pitch.
